Into the Wild blog #2

When I read chapter 1 I do think he knew he wasn't preprared bery well. I think he secretley started getting nervous when he got into the car. There's no way he thought he could survive with, a ten pound bag of rice, cheap hiking boots and 20 caliber gun. I think Chris in a way didn't want to come out alive. But also wanted to try and prove a point that he could come out alive.

I like that Krakauer opened with the end because it caught my attention. It made me want more and to know why he was there. Maybe he wanted to start out the book like this because he thought it would capture more attention. It captured his, so why wouldn't it capture somebody else's? I've read other book that do the same thing and they captured my attention right off the bat.

When I read the S.O.S note I was in a way worried. I almost had a feeling that he might have made it longer than he did. I don't understand why he didn't want to know the time or date. I can't even imagine how he didn't know that he would need more food than he had.

Into the Wild blog #1

In my opinion I think Alex (Chris) is a "wacko". I don't understand why he would go into a death situation with so much life ahead of him. In a way it is pretty noble of him to do. It takes a lot of guts to do what he did. I'm still confused about if he really thought he was going to make it out of there safe and alive. He was basically setting himself up to die. When he gets picked up he tells the guy his name is Alex, it makes me think that he wants to keep his identy hidden from people, incase word would get out. I keep wondering if he was crazy because to me this seems like something a crazy person would do. I can't imagine the things he went through but crazy people are brave. So far the book has interested me and I can't wait to figure out why he did this.
