Into the Wild Blog #5

Some good traits about Chris are he is brave, respectful and social/friendly. It shows Chris is brave in the whole book. Chris hitchiked, walked, traveled and even taken a boat to so many places. His endpoint was Alaska. He wasn't very prepared well and didn't make it through his expeditionin the mountains in Alaska. He is very respectful because whenever he meets somebody new he is very nice. He never said anything any rude to anybody, espically if they didn't deserve it. Chris was also very social/friendly becasue every time he met somebody new he told them about what he was doing and made a strong connection with them. I think people really seemed to enjoy his company and being around him.

Some bad traits about Chris are he's stubborn, know it all, and secretive. Chris being stubborn is shown through the whole book. He wants to do things his way and his way only. Also, he is a know it all because he didn't listen to anybody's advice about traveling. He thought he knew what he was doing, and people tried telling him he wasn't prepared enough and he didn't listen. Last, Chris being secretive was not telling his parents exactly where he was going. He told them be was going away but didn't tell them where he was going and didn't keep in touch.

Into the Wild Blog #4

I think Chris applied for a job at McDonalds because he needed the money and thought it would be a fairly easy job. But I also was shocked about him getting a job more steady job, since he doesn't stay somewhere for very long.

Colleagues reactions at McDonalds about Chris seemed good. He always showed up at work on time and did what he was supposed to do. One of the things that kind of got them a little annoyed was Chris not showering. In the book it says they would ask him if he needed things to clean up with, and they could tell that he got him mad.

Chris' relatonship with Jan and Bob Burres was very strong. I think that Chris loved and cared for them a lot and they felt the same way. He kept in touch with them. It seems to me he gets along with them better than he does with his parents. I think they worried about him a lot, they definitely showed it.

Ronald Franz I think was affected because he had Chris around a lot and got used to seeing him. Ronald's family was all dead and he and Chris were becoming close and he didn't want him to leave. He really love Chris and wanted to adopt and Chris' had responded with if he comes out of Alaska a live and he wouldn't see him for awhile. When he found out Chris had died he was very upset and I feel like he got very depressed. I think he knew it was coming, hoping it wouldn't and/or come later on.

20. Worked at McDonalds

I think Chris' relationship was not very good. I think they got along and everything, I just don't think they had too much in common with each other. He seems like he is the intresting, secretive one in the family. I think from where he grew up in a suburban neghiborhood he didn't get to experience much. So he is doing these advangers to be exciting and do something different in his life. I feel like having a career wasn't his thing and just wanted to travel around and not be serious.

Some motivations behind him doing this would be to be different. Chris might have felt like he was pressured to do something he didn't want to do. He probably just wanted to start a new life without anything or anybody from his past. He wanted to live an exciting life and not just an average life, like other people.
