Into the Wild blog #2

When I read chapter 1 I do think he knew he wasn't preprared bery well. I think he secretley started getting nervous when he got into the car. There's no way he thought he could survive with, a ten pound bag of rice, cheap hiking boots and 20 caliber gun. I think Chris in a way didn't want to come out alive. But also wanted to try and prove a point that he could come out alive.

I like that Krakauer opened with the end because it caught my attention. It made me want more and to know why he was there. Maybe he wanted to start out the book like this because he thought it would capture more attention. It captured his, so why wouldn't it capture somebody else's? I've read other book that do the same thing and they captured my attention right off the bat.

When I read the S.O.S note I was in a way worried. I almost had a feeling that he might have made it longer than he did. I don't understand why he didn't want to know the time or date. I can't even imagine how he didn't know that he would need more food than he had.

  1. I agree with all of it but the beginning. Because maybe in his mind he knew what he was doing when only buying minimum supples. He could work his was off of the worldly things to become one with nature.

  3. I agree with you on the fact that he knew he probably wouldn't come out alive but wanted to prove a point. He seemed determined to get something done it feels like.

  4. I agree with everything you said, except him being suicidal. I believe he thouht he could survive with what he had by making what he needed from them or something in that nature.

  5. I agree with what you said in the bottom two paragraphs but i do think he was prepared because why would he continue on his journey if he wasn't? I think if he didn't think he was prepared he would have gotten more supplies.
